About Us

Who We Are: Dodoma Tanzania Health Development (DTHD) is a non-profit charitable organization established in 2003 in order to help found and support Dodoma Tanzania Medical Center (DCMC).

Our Mission: To assist DCMC in witnessing to God's love by providing sustainable quality health care to the body and soul of the people of central Tanzania.

Our Affiliation: Invited by the Dodoma Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania to assist in meeting the health care needs of central Tanzania.

Dodoma Christian Medical Center (DCMC)

Dodoma Christian Medical Center (DCMC) is positioned to serve a strategic leadership role in community based health care and quality medical/dental care by:

  • Establishing a restorative dental clinic and training program
  • Planning an eighty bed specialty care medical center
  • Coordinating Reproductive and Child Health and HIV/AIDs activities for the area
  • Improving community-based health care through four dispensaries
  • Recruiting a U.S. dental and medical center for partnership, intercultural exchange, sustainable excellence and mutual growth

Dr. John Toso, an experienced missionary physician from St. Paul, Minnesota, is the DCMC Project Director. He and his wife Joann are residing in Dodoma Tanzania. Dr. Toso is overseeing the project for the second year.

Dr. Mike Toth, his wife Marta and daughter Jenny arrived in Dodoma July 2006 to assist in the project as Deputy Director.

Dodoma Tanzania Health Development (DTHD), headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, is governed by a nine person board composed of business leaders and individuals experienced in evangelical and medical missions. DCMC has its own governance in Tanzania.
